FROM THE GEKKO

Daboa is a collaboration between composer and multi-instrumentalist Frank Harris, vocalist and arranger Maria Marquez, and saxophonist and composer Dann Zinn, among others.  The CD originally was released on Triple Earth Records in the UK in 1997. The physical CD is currently out of print but is available via digital download on iTunes or by streaming on Spotify.  It is a rich blend of world music, synthesized and sampled sounds, and real acoustic instruments.  Maria’s rich and sultry voice is featured on several of the tunes and the album has achieved high praise in the audiophile community as a reference disk. A few articles are available on this webpage.  It also was featured and reviewed by NPR’s “All things Considered” and played primetime nationwide.  You can hear the review here.

This Oakland-based project is signed to London’s Triple Earth logo and seems to be the brainchild of Frank Harris, world music maven and synth wiz....
